Reflections.

Over the course of this 6 month ignite project, I have accumulated 7 personal journal entries/ reflections to reflect on my progress regarding my project. This was a way for me to keep track of my progress and reflect on what I have previously done.

reflection 1

It is currently my first lesson of ignite and we are beginning to look into what our passion is, to ultimately get a topic for our ignite. I am really excited to start this subject as it lets us take the lead, and we are in control of our learning, and most of all, it will be something we enjoy doing. At this point, I am a bit stuck because I do not fully know what my passion is. I have a few options so far, baking and gymnastics, I came up with these as I have done gymnastics for 9 years and I love doing it, and I enjoy baking in my free time. I haven't made up my mind yet, because it is a hard desicion as i have to be able keep intrested for 6 months.

reflection 2

Today we completed a brainstorm/mind map which helped with possible ideas. By the end of this lesson, I came to a realization that I would probably enjoy Baking desserts from around Europe more, rather than making a gymnast's leotard. Although making a piece of clothing would be fun, i think having the experience of baking different desserts would interest me more. So for this moment i am set on the idea of baking, and creating it into a website.

reflection 3

Over the past few week, I haven’t been very productive, and one of the reasons why, was because I didn’t have a kitchen, as it was getting renovated. This made it extremely difficult to progress in my project. However, over the next few weeks I will begin cooking some of the desserts, and I will research the history and origin behind them.

we are back in isolation again, although it shouldn't affect my project majorly. My kitchen has finished renovations so I was able to make my first dessert, a banoffee pie. I am quite happy with how this dessert turned out. I have finished the history behind all of the desserts so I think I will be able to get a good rhythm going, making the desserts. Prior to making this dessert, i decided to enhance my project further, i could film a time laspe of myself cooking the desserts. As i don't have a tripod, my mum helped me fold up coat hangers to hand of my cupboard handles so that my phone could rest and film at a steady spot. Quickly, i realized that this meant i wouldn't be able to multi task, when making the dishes as i only have one phone, and this meant they took a little longer to make, but i thought that filming the progression of the desserts was a really cool addition.

At this point in time I have made 4/10 desserts. I'm quite happy with how i'm progressing and I think I am setting up strategies to implement for future dishes. i have decided that in my website on top of researching the history, and adding in the recipes, i think that i will add a detailed reflection on my experience making the dish. I can talk about whether i liked the dish and what went well or didn't, i can talk about future improvements and give my recommendations to others and finally i will give the dessert a rating out of 10 stars with constructive criticism.

For my project I am continuing to cook desserts from around Europe. I have currently cooked 8/10 desserts, so I feel as though I am on track to finish by October 14th. I am doing quite well, and I think I have progressed at a good rate. Over the past few weeks I think I have done really well to catch up, as I was behind. In the past 5 days, I have made 4 desserts, and I think I have used my time well to achieve this. I have recently started my website where I include history and my reflection on the dessert, and I add pictures and the recipe. While I cook my desserts, I film in time-lapse on my phone from an above angle so you can see me making it. I intend to present my ignite project through my website and I also am working on a way to present my time-lapses of making the desserts. I am planning on making my last 2 desserts in the next few weeks, and I then just need to finish writing up the reflections from a few of my desserts. For the desserts I have made, I’m really happy with how they turned out, a few of them could have been better, but for a lot of these dishes it was my first time making them so overall, I’m happy.

reflection 7

I have recently found out that we will be presenting our Ignite projects online, which sucks a bit. It would have been good to take people through my websites and show them my experiences in person, but just like everyone else, I will have to make do with what I've got. there is officially 10 days to our online expo (finish), and i believe i am fully done. I have finished all of my 10 desserts, researched them and written reflections on them. I have finished my website, and received feedback to improve it further, for the ease of the accessibility of the website. although I still need to figure out a way to show my time lapse videos of my desserts. Overall, I am really happy with my end product, and i have enjoyed this subject very much. I am grateful that we got given the opportunity to take control of our learning for once. I am really happy with how most of the desserts turned out, and I feel as though I improved my baking skills as well.

after previously believing i had finished, after playing around with the website, i managed to find a way to upload my dessert videos, which is what i ultimately wanted in the first place. After loading them, i finished adding final touches and i now believe i have finished.
